NASAB ar. lineage includes ancestors through multiple generations through the paternal line. Mentioning the father’s name as part of one’s own name is still common in the Arabic-speaking world today and is added with Ibn ar. ابن (sin) or Bint ar. بنت (daughter).

LAKAB ar. a nickname can be a nickname that we usually use to address a person in everyday life and it is placed at the end. It can also indicate an honoring name or title, in which case it goes to the beginning.
An example is the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid ar. هارون الرشيد – Al-Rasheed is actually a nickname and it means “the Rightly-Guided”.
